Joel had problems with his port again today. Ryan went to give Joel the saline he gets before his chemotherapy and Joel winced and grabbed his chest. It was clear to us that the needle for his port had come loose. It is especially frustrating since Ryan spent Sunday morning driving back and forth to Children’s for this same issue. We’re not sure why Joel keeps having these problems, but it seems to be just part of the reality of being on treatment. (We had been off so long we forgot how easy it is for little things to go wrong.) So now, instead of our fancy dinner reservations for Valentine’s day, Ryan is driving Joel to the children’s hospital and I am staying home with the kids. I think here is where I’m supposed to say that it is such a small disappointment compared to the blessing of having Joel with us still, having him happy and learning new things every day, and I know that is true, but I’m still disappointed, and I have about six hours to get over it since that’s how long it will be before Ryan and Joel are home.
However, it just wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day, without an adorable video. Enjoy!
